What is pregnancy management?
It is very important to have a reliable healthcare provider on your side in case any of possible complications or questions you may have. Sure, in today’s day and age we may think that we have the internet for answering our questions, but let’s be honest, how many times has searching your symptoms on the internet given you unnecessary sense of alarm? The reality is that nothing can replaced the value and reliability of a doctor who knows you and your pregnancy. This is what we refer to as pregnancy management.
Pregnancy management usually takes place once a woman is 28 weeks into her pregnancy. Your doctor will be on-call for 24 hours to manage any of your concerns or questions relating to your pregnancy. You may be wondering what the pregnancy management fee covers. Simply put, it reimburses the doctor for the time and disruption curves for providing 24-hour service to you once you have reached the 28 weeks mark.
The fee does not include the management of the labour and/or delivery. This is payable once your pregnancy has progressed beyond 28 weeks when the practitioner intends to undertake the delivery for a privately admitted patient.
In most instances, this pregnancy management fee is only a portion of what you will be paying for an obstetric pregnancy. There are other fees that you will be liable for during your pregnancy care. Some of these other fees include appointment fees well as delivery fees.
Why we provide pregnancy management
We understand pregnancy can be the source of some stress, particularly for first time mums. Your baby is lucky to have a mum who cares so much.
Picture this situation: It is 3 am, you have awoken to go to the toilet and have noticed some slight bleeding. Placed in the situation, the first thing many women would do is panic. You may find yourself Googling bleeding during pregnancy, stumble upon some scary results. You get yourself into a state, and cannot sleep until the next day. Alternatively, you may rush to the hospital, only to find that the bleeding wasn’t of any real concern. You may find yourself having to recover from the trauma that has disrupted your evening and may filter through to the next day.
Surely the best thing to do in this kind of situation is to pick up the phone and call your doctor instead. You will receive personal care through the situation accordingly. Sometimes that human contact with a medical professional during a time of stress can be all you need.
